  • I've read a few of these Institute Series books and some are better than others; this one was good because of the characters. I especially liked Prince Diyab in the book and also the heroine, Beatrice, along with some of the other characters in the Palace. The plot was also interesting in that it shifts to life in Arabia part way through the story. I could have done without a lot of the characters in the Institute constantly giving their opinions which took up a lot of the story. In my opinion, these "experts" are too clinical as well as cynical and somewhat cold in their views. The interaction (both physically and emotionally) between Diyab and Beatrice was so good, however, that it more than made up for the pages mainly about the Institute and what they thought. I do realize in this particular story there was an element of danger, hence their concerns about Beatrice but I still think they were a bit cold and unfeeling towards her at times.

Also, it would be nice to have an Epilogue at the end. I would have liked to find out what ultimately happened with the 2 main characters and also the women related to the Prince at the Palace. Perhaps Ms. Tilton will do a 2nd book with these characters, I think there is a lot more there that could continue this story. The author, to her credit, can write very explicit sexual scenes, however, there is also tenderness and love between the 2 main characters which I especially liked and makes the story worth reading, in my opinion.
  • I am a fan of Tilton's Institute series, but this book was somewhat disappointing. Not much of the action happened at the institute, and there is such a "Big Brother" interference by the government, that it feels like the government is running the institute for the sake of the government. Why would the institute let the Sheikh buy the girl when she may well not live a year before she can be free. I don't like governmental interference, so some of my disappointment may just be me, but I have generally enjoyed the Institute series and have read them all.
  • I love Emily Tilton's books but this one's non-ending really irks me. Very unsatisfying non-HEA, or so it seems to me.
It was reassuring to note how well the Institute staff watched over Beatrice when she was in questionable situations over seas.
On the plus side was the very well done work of Cliff Bergen, one of E Tilton's best narrators.

  • Okay
  • It started great and had a lot of suspense and sex and drama. I'm not sure it was ended properly though. It just hangs without a clear resolution but otherwise great.
  • What kind of amending was that? Sure hope their is more in books to come. Not a fan of cliffhangers, and I feel like that is one. Certainly good and bad in every culture.. would like to banish Aliya, what a witch!
  • Another great sizzler but this takes place in the Middle East. That made it harder for me to like since this behavior is fantasy in the Western world but reality in the Middle East.
