EMTBasic Interactive Flashcards Book for EMT REA REA Test Preps Not the Premium Edition 9780738601236 Medicine Health Science Books Reviews

  • I ordered the version of this so I can study on the go using my iPad or iPhone. It has helped me out, especially with really reading the questions. I've found that it has a fair amount of spelling and grammatical errors. Or the questions don't make sense when you look at the multiple-choice answers. And when you look at the answer choices, it gives them 1-4. When check your answer, it gives them A, B, C, or D. I'll give one question as an example

"The electrical impulse in the right atrium is called the
    1. atriovintricular node.
    2. pukinje node.
    3. sinoatrial node.
    4. bundle of his.

Answer ( C ) The electrical impulse generated at the right atrium is the sinoatrial node. (SA node.) It travels through both atria, causing both to contract simultaneously, which propels the blood through the ventricles."

I would word this saying "which area in the right atrium creates an electrical impulse the travels though the heart." But, maybe I'm just too picky about grammar and spelling... (And yes, I realize my spelling/ grammar may not be perfect either, but I'm sure I make more sense than this book.)
  • I downloaded the JB Learning app and studied studied studied using it but was continually failing the quizzes. I took NREMT the first time and failed it. I was extremely discouraged because I am not a written test taker, I had passed my practicals but state won't give me my license until I pass NREMT. After much encouragement and more JB app review with some co-workers I decided I needed to try this again one more time before my time runs out to retake. I ended up in a moment of desperation purchase this book on and downloaded it onto the app on my iPad and would highlight the questions and I kept getting them correct. Some pages were a little off and would have the answer below it but for the most part you had to flip to the next page to see your answer. My confidence grew and just like the app it will tell you why the answer is the answer. I went and took NREMT and it shut off after 71 questions and I found out four hours later that I passed. I am still reviewing this book because I only made it halfway through before my testing date and I have to say you will NOT regret this purchase.
  • This book definitely has questions you’ll see in class and on the state test.
It helps to understand things better because it explains why and how.

There is at least one question for sure that is outdated so I’ll give it 4 stars.
**Don’t suction more than 10 seconds! ( book says 15secs)**
Over all, I love this book!
  • The book is a little bit older. CPR has changed a little bit. And there are a few minor changes you want to make. Other than that the information has pretty much stayed the same. There are pages in back where you can add extra info to study if you want too. One of the teachers of my EMT class said he didn't know of anyone who bought the book, actually studied it, and took the NREMT who didn't pass. I bought the book, studied it and passed the NREMT. I was happy with it. It helped a lot.
  • Not sure why this book calls itself interactive. It's no more interactive than any other printed book. That said it is a decent value. I went through this entire book before I took the emt class and marked every page I missed with a post it (there were hundreds) after taking the class I went back through and removed the post its from pages I knew then reviewed the ones I still didn't know till I did. I think this is a pretty good way to prepare your self. Keep in mind its not really set up as flash cards. The question is on one page and the answer is on the next page. Excellent way to review at the gym while on the treadmill.
  • Great info. Keep it for emergency reference for years!!!
  • Great book, got me through my EMT course and was all I needed for the NREMT as well. You might have to update yourself on certain guidelines if you go for this particular books as the rules are always changing surrounding practices in CPR, airways and etc.
  • As both a Paramedic and EMT-B instructor, I have recommended this book as a study aid for the last three classes. Our course has an excellent NREMT-B exam success rate. The book has well written questions with concise answers. This is a paperback book presented in a flash card format, making it easy to find the answers on the reverse side of the page. Several students have said the questions are in a similar format to the NREMT-B exam. It is well worth the price considering the amount of time the EMT course takes.
